Barry Guerin had his first competitive fighting experience as a member of his high school's Greco Roman wrestling team. After graduating from Western Michigan University with a degree in philosophy he started training under pro fighter Chris Malgeri and Eric Paulson's Combat Submission Wrestling. Barry Guerin has trained with notable Brazilian black belts, Jean Jauques Machado, Carlos Caique, and Marcello Grosso. His first professional MMA fight took place in Detroit, Michigan at the Fightzone 2 on October 19th. 2000. He has trained and taught in America, South Africa, Guam, Thailand and now Japan. He fought at the M-1 challenge at the Tokyo Dome's famous fight venue, Kourkuen Hall and now fights for Shikaku Jungle.

He is available for seminars, classes, and private lessons in Japan. He is also available for sparring sessions for amateur and professional fighters living our coming to Japan. He fights in the light & middleweight division.
